Finals are coming up, and we wanted to provide you all a break from your studies with a study night for some cookies and lemonade Tuesday, 12/7 at 4 pm, Room TBA. Please join us for a break from all this madness! :)

There is a position available on the Eboard for PUBLICITY CHAIR, so we will be having an election for this position on 12/7, the same night as the study break! The application is available in the Membership tab;
Please note that the application is due 12/7 by 12:00 pm (noon) sharp!
Please have a 2-minute speech prepared as to why YOU should be the next Phi Sigma Publicity Chair at the meeting on Tuesday. The application is not too long, and it's another chance to exercise and develop leadership skills, so we encourage you to apply! :)

Also, for those of you interested in clinical health psychology, we have yet another opportunity to get involved with research in this field! The information is below:

Type of employment: Volunteer

Department: Psychology

Study description: Female RAs are needed for help with laboratory study in a clinical health psychology laboratory. RAs must have availability from 9-1 on Monday, 10-2 on Wednesday, and/or 10-2 on Friday. Please email contact personnel for more information.

Job Duties: RAs will assist with running subjects through a new laboratory based study and data entry.

Qualifications: Genuine interest in research opportunity in psychology lab, flexibility in schedule (Potential RA's with Monday, Wednesday, AND Friday availability will have higher probability of receiving RA position)

Time commitment: 8-12 hours a week

Hey everybody! We had a great turnout at our first social event! The board gave a small presentation about the club, how to join, how to find research opportunities, and how to keep up with the club! We ordered LOTS of food from Viztango's and had a great time!

Not to mention, you may even get the chance to find a research position in a lab. This event will take place on October 18 from 7-9 pm, but you need to RSVP at [email protected] and don't forget to wear business casual attire. For more information, you can find the event announcement on the USC Natural Sciences Blog.

Finally, a sneak preview of our first general meeting: on Thursday, October 14, our guest speaker will be Dr. Dave Caron, who will be presenting on "Marine Microbiology at the Forefront of Environmental Research." Hello everyone! The involvement fair went great! We created an awesome poster for our booth, detailing the history and main objectives of Phi Sigma. Judy, Janet, and Christine spoke to students about the club, gave out candy, and nearly 60 people majoring in fields ranging from biophysics to accounting signed up!! We are so excited for this coming year. Thanks so much for showing your interest in Phi Sigma! Pictures are posted in the Photo Gallery.

First off, welcome to our all-new blog! Here you can find pictures, announcements about events, summaries of meetings, and a discussion board where you can ask any questions you may have.

You may also find out about our events (and many others) on the BISC Natural Sciences Blog here.

Second, we are starting to plan the first Phi Sigma general meeting & social, and contacting professors to be our special guests for the general meetings.

Please fill out the dates and times that would be most convenient meeting times for you, as well as comment on speakers or fields you're interested in hearing from, at this link!
