Hello members! We hope you have been having a great semester so far.
Since you have been studying so hard for midterms, we would like to invite YOU to join us for the first Phi Sigma meeting of the Fall 2010 semester!

Here are the details of the social:
Date
: Wednesday, September 29, 2010
Time: 7-8 PM
Place: ZHS 163
Food: Vistango's (pasta - yum!)
Activities
:
1. Introduction to USC Phi Sigma
2. Present research opportunities YOU can take advantage of
3. Introduce Phi Sigma membership applications
4. Play icebreakers to get to know one another

In addition to our social, we would like to encourage you to attend Beyond Books - a research banquet hosted by the USC Academic Culture Assembly (ACA). You will dine (for free!) in Town & Gown with research professors from your field of study, so you can ask your questions about research and science on a personal basis. Not to mention, you may even get the chance to find a research position in a lab. This event will take place on October 18 from 7-9 pm, but you need to RSVP at [email protected] and don't forget to wear business casual attire. For more information, you can find the event announcement on the USC Natural Sciences Blog.

Finally, a sneak preview of our first general meeting: on Thursday, October 14, our guest speaker will be Dr. Dave Caron, who will be presenting on "Marine Microbiology at the Forefront of Environmental Research." In addition to his current research topics in marine biology, he will be stressing the importance of doing research as an undergraduate. Free food will be provided as well! :]

Fight On!
