Place: ZHS 163

In addition to our social, we would like to encourage you to attend Beyond Books - a research banquet hosted by the USC Academic Culture Assembly (ACA). You will dine (for free!) in Town & Gown with research professors from your field of study, so you can ask your questions about research and science on a personal basis. Not to mention, you may even get the chance to find a research position in a lab. This event will take place on October 18 from 7-9 pm, but you need to RSVP at [email protected] and don't forget to wear business casual attire. For more information, you can find the event announcement on the USC Natural Sciences Blog.

Finally, a sneak preview of our first general meeting: on Thursday, October 14, our guest speaker will be Dr. Dave Caron, who will be presenting on "Marine Microbiology at the Forefront of Environmental Research." In addition to his current research topics in marine biology, he will be stressing the importance of doing research as an undergraduate. Free food will be provided as well! :]

Hello everyone! The involvement fair went great! We created an awesome poster for our booth, detailing the history and main objectives of Phi Sigma. Judy, Janet, and Christine spoke to students about the club, gave out candy, and nearly 60 people majoring in fields ranging from biophysics to accounting signed up!! We are so excited for this coming year. Thanks so much for showing your interest in Phi Sigma! Pictures are posted in the Photo Gallery.

Can't wait to see you all soon!
